No Parking Anytime (2001) - Pakistani Artist SHAHZIA SIIKANDER

A series of nine Color photogravure etchings printed on gampi paper (click on each image for its title). This series highlights a main aspect of Sikander’s artistic approach; and that is to create pieces that transcend space and time. Artistic pieces that combine different aspects of her environment and identity in order to create scenes that are very profound to a multiplicity of viewers, yet easily accessed and understood. In this series, Hindu and Muslim mythology is portrayed as part of an interrelated theme, in addition to components that are part of our modern “routine oriented” world.
